Trafficking is trading in children and women for the sex industry, forced labour, begging, illegal adoption and forced marriage, among other things. In the period 2000- 2005 the police in the province of Timis came across 367 victims of trafficking in human beings, 193 of whom were between 15 and 17 years old. 63% had been sexually exploited.

The child helpline is open from 9am to 9pm every day and volunteers answer the questions that come in. The reason for setting up the child helpline is that children in this country are frequently confronted with violence. They often do not know how they should react to it. There is little information available for them and they are frightened of seeking help from others.
